HVAC Trends Spring 2022

Air Conditioning Trends for Commercial Buildings

As we wrap up the first quarter of 2022, we remain busy with commercial air conditioning installations and service projects around South Florida, with one of the most extensive backlogs we’ve ever experienced. The worldwide materials shortage continues to be a big issue, especially regarding pricing. We’re all seeing and feeling these cost fluctuations in our daily lives. As a company, we are having difficulty getting prices from manufacturers, so our contracts will note that materials pricing will be confirmed at the time of the order.

This worldwide shortage of raw materials has created many challenges for construction and air conditioning, with everything considerably behind production schedules. We are working with all our customers to navigate these waters by using our purchasing power, longstanding relationships, and inventory to secure and stockpile items which put us in a better position than most. We can purchase and store materials to get them to you quickly.

HVAC Projects In Progress

Advanced Air Systems recently secured a large project with Martin County to replace multiple chillers and air handlers. We continue to do plenty of work in the condominium market segment and for the Broward County School Board, such as Stirling Elementary School in Hollywood. We’re also working on roofs for nine different schools, with two more pending.

We have a few notable projects, including Stirling Elementary School. We’re installing a new Daikin air-cooled chiller system to replace their 20-year-old system and existing mechanical equipment. Daikin air-cooled chillers provide high quality, efficiency, and energy savings. This new system will ensure the school’s staff and students remain cool and comfortable.

Company Growth

We’re excited to bring quite a few new employees to our team, including Purchasing Agent Gabriella Genao, Take-Off/ Estimator Edmond Bocaj, and Project Manager David Lima.

To help increase our footprint in the South Florida business community, our Advanced Air Systems HVAC division joined the Executive’s Association of Fort Lauderdale this spring. Advanced Roofing has been a member for more than 20 years and is proud to join this great organization.

Be Prepared for the Summer Heat and Hurricane Season

Now that it’s spring, the heat and rain of summer are right around the corner. With average temperatures in the 90s, conduct regular maintenance on your air conditioning systems to avoid disruptions and tenant complaints. Here are a few commercial AC conditioning tips to get you started.

Join us for our online webinar “Hurricane Season Preparedness: Is Your Commercial Roof Ready?” on May 5 from 11 am to 12 pm. We’ll go over tips to prepare your commercial roofing system, rooftop air conditioning, solar energy equipment for a hurricane or significant storm, and more. Register here

Looking Forward

As we know, it’s getting increasingly difficult to predict the future, but Florida’s economy continues to look bright, with lots of growth and money flowing into the state. Historically, as real estate prices increase, people spend more on their roofs. But the shortage of materials and labor will continue to be a challenge for our industry, one of the biggest I’ve experienced in the 25 years since Advanced Air Systems was founded. The labor shortage continues with no end in sight, even as our company provides raises and expands its recruiting efforts beyond state lines.

These challenges will continue throughout 2022, with the first quarter of 2023 hopefully seeing some sort of normalcy with materials and pricing, so hang in there. As always, we will continue to provide exceptional customer service that hopefully makes navigating the challenges of these past few years a bit easier. Let’s make it a great rest of the year, hoping for a brighter and peaceful 2023!
